Palin uses Twitter to ask Muslims planning a mosque to refudiate

Sarah Palin wants peaceful Muslims to “refudiate” the controversial ground zero mosque in New York. She used this fake word many times in tweets on Sunday putting the word “refudiate” to the national lexicon. Palin used Twitter to advise Muslims on joining the Tea party which is against this big project that should be able to create unity amongst cultures. Palin uses refudiate among English words

By focusing on refudiate, the media may have played right into Palin’s Tea Party opportunism. These tweets have caused the whole nation to hear Palin, along with the “Tea Party Americans” that actually wanted to hear about it. The ground zero mosque in Manhattan has been used recently for attention by the Tea Party so Palin, of course, had to put in her opinion.

Attention wanted by Palin with ground zero mosque comments

Palin wants “peaceful” Muslims, she says, to “refudiate” the proposed 13-story project a couple of blocks from ground zero that will house a mosque, a gym and a community center for several groups, such as the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, which promotes cross-cultural understanding between Islam and the West. CBS News reports that New York politicians are going both ways on the scale of the issue. State Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg think the project is a fantastic idea; nevertheless, the financing on the project should be investigated if you ask Peter King, the previous Republican congressmen and congressman Rick Lazio, who’s a Republican running for governor.

Sarah Palin tweets to ‘peaceful’ Muslims

Palin’s first tweet on the issue said:

“Ground Zero Mosque supporters: doesn’t it stab you in the heart, as it does ours throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, pls refudiate”

Liberal bloggers pounced on Sarah Palin’s tweet. Many just made fun of the fact she didn’t know how to speak. But CBS News reports that Jon Henke attacked Palin’s sentiment instead of her words: “We want peaceful Muslims to distinguish themselves from radical Muslims, but we can’t distinguish between a peaceful Mosque and terrorists?”

Sarah Palin equates herself with Shakespeare

After receiving the attention she was after, Palin did a bit more tweeting. Bloggers continued to skewer Palin for her language choices. After she deleted the controversial tweets on the Tea Party, she had one last message joking with saying: “‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

Anatomy of a Palin tweet

The Wall Street Journal reports that Palin just wanted to be on the exact same playing field as Obama, Bush, and Shakespeare. Bush used “Misunderestimate” many times. ”Wee-wee’d up” Obama used about a year ago in August. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs tried to define the term: He stated “I think ‘wee-wee’d up’ is when individuals get nervous for no unique reason.”
