Friggatriskaidekaphobia? The Friday the 13th phobea

The 13 landing on a Friday only happens each and every so often. It doesn’t really mean anything, but people get spooked about it all the same, and this fear is known as Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Granted, most black cats won’t do anything more harmful than shed or do that annoying thing with their paws. There are a lot of individuals who sincerely believe in numerous superstitions. The word for being scared of Friday the 13th is Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Jason Voorhees won’t appear, even if you say the word in the mirror 3 times.

What is that word again?

It’s pronounced “fri-gah-tri-sk-eye-de-kah-fo-bia.” The word, a portmanteau, means a person is afraid of Friday the 13th. It is interesting to note that Triskaidekaphobia is a fear of the number thirteen while friggaphobia is just a fear of Friday. Put them together and you have Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Friday was a day associated with witches. The German/Norse goddess Frigga, or Freya, got the day of the week named for her, as Freya-day. The day arguably could possibly be associated with witches simply because it was named for a female deity, but sexism within the ancient world is a topic for one more time. Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13. The word “tri” is the number three, “deka” is 10, you get the idea.

Any Friday the thirteenth things happen?

There isn’t anything really when keeping it short. No would be the long answer too. A correlation to anything with Friday the 13th has never been observed, other than a couple of people getting the “heebie-jeebies” or Friggatriskaidekaphobia. If anything were actually to happen on Friday the thirteenth, somebody would have noticed by now and written it down. Even if there were more accidents happening Friday the thirteenth, more factors would have to be accounted for besides the day like the fact more individuals like to drink on Fridays.

Making the day with no meaning have just a little bit of fun

Friggatriskaidekaphobia and other superstitions won’t hurt a fly. Many traditional superstitions exist. ”MacBeth” is a cursed play meaning theaters will refer to it only as “the Scottish play” so as to stay away from the curse. Watch a scary movie with your family or friends, and use this as an excuse to have some fun. I’d suggest Crystal Lake be one of the activities you don’t do though.
