Officials perform controlled burn off of Escondido bomb house

There was so much volatile bomb materials in a rental home in Escondido, California, even the bomb squad was not safe. The person renting the Escondido bomb house was making powerful, unpredictable bombs for an unknown reason. The house was such a hazard the best way to neutralize the threat was to burn off the Escondido bomb home to the floor. The payday loan someone would need to take out to completely cleanse that house would be more expensive than just rebuilding a fresh one.

Lots of Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine found in Escondido bomb residence

Thurs at 11 a.m. PST, the Escondido bomb home got scorched down. The discovery of the bomb factory only happened due to a gardener. He stepped on gravel within the back yard and got badly burned. A huge stockpile of hexamethylene triperoxide diamine was found by police in the home, or HMTD. HMTD like this had never been found in the U.S. before. It was never that large of a stockpile. Any slight amount of heat, friction or impact will cause the detonation of Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine . There was supposedly hardly any HMTD that the gardener stepped on. Supposedly it was less than a gram. Nine detonators and 13 grenade hulls with Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine in them were discovered by police too.

More discovered inside the bomb home in Escondido

Eight to nine pounds of Hexamethylene triperoxide diamine were removed from the Escondido bomb home. Eight federal counts are being brought against 54 year old George Djura Jakubec. These are there because of the high explosive devices he had and made. Jakubec has also been charged in three 2009 armed financial institution robberies in which he allegedly stole $54,000. There could be even more HMTD in the home. Officials are afraid it might just be a giant trap. The site is extremely unpredictable. In fact, an explosion occurred within the yard due to where a guy on the bomb squad stepped. San Diego County Sherriff asked FBI bomb experts if he could get some advice. This led to the decision that the Escondido bomb residence needed to be burned.

The residence burning

To prepare the Escondido bomb house for its destruction, authorities built a metal fence 16-feet high, reinforced with two layers of fire-resistant drywall. Flame retardant gel was put within the blast wall. They boarded up the next door house. It also had gel put on it. They cleared vegetation too. This was all around the house. The Sheriff’s bomb squad cut holes in the roof. The community was given 48-hour notice of the burn off. Interstate 15 was shut down north of Escondido, and individuals within the area have been told to close their doors and windows. The fire burned quickly at a temperature of about 1,800 degrees.
