Mercader type assassin perhaps delivered after double agent

It is rumored that a Mercader type hit has been requested on a Russian double agent. Anna Chapman, and the spy ring she was connected with, was found thanks to details from an intended high position defector and double agent from the Russian intelligence community. Ramon Mercader is synonymous with retaliatory murders, as he completed the hit requested on Leon Trotsky by Joseph Stalin.

Possible Ramon Mercader hit order

Because of spying for the Russian government, U.S. officials were able to arrest Anna Chapman and nine others. A rumored high ranking defector disclosed the spy ring. A recently published article in the Russian periodical Kommersant included some statements from a high ranking member of the SVR, the Russian intelligence service, according to The Guardian. "A Mercader" was sent to take care of the defector supposedly. The name “Mercader” refers to Ramon Mercader, who was a Spanish agent of the Soviet Union who went to Mexico to murder Leon Trotsky after Trotsky’s exile from the Soviet Union. Mercader got an award from the Soviet Union. It made him out to be a hero.

Defector in the high ranks

The Russian spy ring with Anna Chapman in it was supposedly brought down with a leak of info. A high ranking official in the Russian intelligence services is supposedly who leaked the info. The Telegraph reports that Colonel Scherbakov is the name he was given. Dimitri Medvedev, the president of Russia, recently told reporters that it was old news to him. The supposed Scherbakov would bring illegal immigrants from Russia to the United States and plant them in various places under assumed identities. In Russia in July, four agents were exchanged for 10 spies.

Still no Cold War end

It has been suggested by some that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, a former KGB operative, is trying to resurrect the Cold War. The fact that Russian agents are operating within the United States certainly makes it seem plausible.
