Olbermann slaps back at MSNBC, requires apology

Keith Olbermann will return to the air Tuesday on MSNBC, despite the network’s umbrage over his campaign contributions and how such contributions allegedly ran afoul of NBC’s media ethics policy. The "indefinite suspension" brought down over Olbermann’s admission that he contributed to three Democratic candidates was initially thought to have been levied because of violation of NBC’s media ethics policy. At least, that’s the story circulating. However, Mediaite accounts the real reason MSNBC tried to muzzle Olbermann is because he did not say sorry on cue. Now the "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" host is demanding an apology from his network for the embarrassment of it all.

Olbermann gets cut for a while by MSNBC

Because of the political contributions scandal, Olbermann was suspended by MSNBC network accounts Mediaite. Olbermann garners significant ratings for the network, although he is reportedly behind within the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that Rachel Maddow dominates. Mediaite explains that Keith Olbermann likely just lost it all which he used to have.

What he demanded

Yet that hasn’t prevented Olbermann from taking good offense at his recent treatment by MSNBC. MSNBC did submit to Olbermann's demands always, Popeater explains.

"Keith sees himself as the star of MSNBC, the person who put them on the map and discovered Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell," said a network insider. "To be treated like this… he considers disgusting."

In light of such views, Keith Olbermann has demanded not only to be reinstated with pay, however for MSNBC’s media ethics rules to be changed so that they’re in line with the policies under which anchors at FOX News operate. Fox News anchors are able to be a part of politics. Contributions are perfectly acceptable.

McCain says journalist rules should not apply

Getting rid of this talent was not thought via really well, Meghan McCain suggests in her The Daily Beast column. It does not matter if it is FOX News or MSNBC. "Keith Olbermann isn’t a journalist," she claims. This is her opinion. She claims he is an informative and opinionated entertainer as a commentator.

"The real issue at hand is that journalists need to determine if they consider themselves journalists or commentators," she claims. This is what McCain wrote. She says that Cable News Network can have ratings go down as it has taken the "middle path" on anything. People pay for entertainment.
