Bavarian Motor Works has put into motion a 350,000-vehicle recall of recent BMW and Rolls-Royce vehicles due to faulty power brake help that can make it difficult for a driver to bring their auto to the stop. The BMW recall will touch upon 345,000 8- and 12-cyllinder engine Bavarian Motor Works cars and 5,800 Rolls-Royces built from 2002 to 2010. Bavarian Motor Works 5- through 7-Series luxury models are included, as well as those of the Rolls-Royce Phantom series. The BMW 5-Series sedan isn’t incorporated within the BMW recall 2010, notes Frank Strebe, Bavarian Motor Works spokesman.
BMW recall due to power brake system problem
According to Bloomberg, some BMW and Rolls-Royce drivers with higher-mileage cars discovered that they have to push harder on the brake pedal than normal in order to come to a stop. The power brake help module has a leak causing the vacuum pressure within the brake pump to be lost.
While no accidents or injuries are connected to the power brake problem yet, Bavarian Motor Works is encouraging customers to take proactive steps to remedy the issue. In the next few weeks, Bavarian Motor Works will let all the owners know through mail. Dealerships can be offering free repairs to any of the users who come, claims Strebe. It will take at least a few hours for each vehicle. Further information for North American Bavarian Motor Works customers is available via Bavarian Motor Works Customer Relations at 800-525-7417 and consumer.relations@bmwna.com.
Bavarian Motor Works losing cash
While Bavarian Motor Works recall repairs can be free to customers, it is unknown at this time how much power brake system default repairs will cost BMW. Since August 12, BMW has had the largest mid-day stock which is about 3.3 percent accounts Bloomberg.
