LPGA defends against Lana Lawless lawsuit

Associated Press reports indicate that Lana Lawless, a 57-year-old transgender golfer, has leveled a suit at the LPGA for barring her from competition. It seems that the LPGA has a rule that rivals has to be born female, so a United States of America District Court in San Francisco will address whether such a rule is lawful. Lana Lawless – named after classic Hollywood starlet Lana Turner – states this rule violates her civil rights as outlined by California law. Until the policy is changed, Lawless’ lawful team is attempting to bar the LPGA from holding tournaments in California and attempting to secure unspecified damages from Long Drivers of The United States and two of its title sponsors.

Lana Lawless competed being a woman in long-drive tournament

Lana Lawless won the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship for women in 2008 because of her strike that went 335 yards. Now the event won’t allow Lawless to defend her title, as the participation policy has fallen in line with Ladies Professional Golf Association standards. Moonbattery compares Lana Lawless’ suit to transgender tennis pro Renée Richards’ suit that made it to the brand new York Supreme Court in 1977. Since Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker just made a ruling in favor of gay marriage, Lawless will likely be in favor at the liberal court, claims Moonbattery .

From S.W.A.T. to swatting golf balls

Based on Right Celebrity, Lawless worked as a S.W.A.T. cop for 18 years and even a bartender in Southern CA when she was nevertheless a man. Although Lawless was married, children were not within the picture. Lawless explained, “I had a really tough and mean exterior. Individuals did not want to mess with me.”. “But Lana was always in there. I had started to go to Los Angeles to the clubs, playing dress-up on the weekends. But I wanted to be a normal girl.”

A normal girl when it comes to competition

Lawless is in opposition to the odds. “I am a woman,” she always says. “I’ve lost muscle mass. I do not have large guns (biceps). They give you a drug that stops you from producing testosterone. Your muscles atrophy. I feel like I do not have any power.”

Perhaps another landmark legal ruling in favor of the transgendered will change that.
