Electronic Arts takes Angry Birds in the hand for $ 20 million

Mashable reports that Electronic Arts has purchased the mobile app company Chillingo – publisher of the mobile app “Angry Birds” – for $ 20 million money. “Angry Birds” has sat near the top of the iPhone App Store sales since its December 2009 debut. Nearly 7 million copies have sold at 99 cents each, says developer Rovio. A $ 4.99 high-definition version was just lately released for iPad, and an Android version had been released in Sept.

Rovio will take command of the ‘Angry Birds’

The “Angry Birds” app was developed by a Finland-based company which just came out and said that although Electronic Arts bought the founder Chillingo, which developed “Angry Birds,” Rovio can be able to continue to command the franchise. Rovio told Mashable that it means “Angry Birds” and “any future products” will nevertheless be under its control. Any “Angry Birds” announcements will come later. Thurs can be when they come. 1 million copies of “Cut the Rope,” Chillingo’s most recent app, sold in just 10 days. This shows that “Angry Birds” probably is not going anywhere.

Apple something Electronic Arts wants to take part in

EA spokeswoman Holly Rockwood told Reuters that Electronic Arts’ acquisition of Chillingo will serve to increase EA Mobile’s market-leading presence on the iPhone platform, which in turn cements EA Mobile’s place as one of the most successful mobile app company in the world.

A decrease of 1.2 percent to $15.40 had been where EA ended up. Reuters explains that this occurred with trading on Nasdaq surprisingly. Nobody knows if this has any relation to Chillingo’s scheme of offering “Angry Birds” on the Android for free or not. Reaction to Chillingo’s Android offering of “Angry Birds” with the in-game marketing has been largely negative within the video game press.
